Gospel – Mark 4:35-41
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church
144 To obey (from the Latin ob-audire, to “hear or listen to”) in faith is to submit freely to the word that has been heard, because its truth is guaranteed by God, who is Truth itself….
From “The Great Crusade of Mercy” Testimony of Catalina Rivas (CM-59:8; CM-72:9,10)
8) My little children, I want you to understand such games and to really get it through your heads that if I sleep in your boat while the storm is roaring, it does not mean I am absent, for besides looking after you and making the winds die down, I am observing.
9) There are so many who ask Me how to attain perfection, and there are so many who strike against that reef by returning to the sea of their confusion. I set many on the course that leads to the knowledge of that mystery and there are few who are capable of understanding it, because scarcely have I begun to work for their benefit when they get stuck. Scarcely have I launched their little boat on the waves when they cry out to Me, “Lord, do You not see that we are drowning? Does it not matter to You that we are perishing?” How many “Peters” and how many unfortunate people there are!
10) Therefore, I want to obtain complete trust and complete acceptance on your part. I will not go back on My word; from the beginning, I have stood firm on everything that I have proposed to you. How can you do My Will if I do not oppose yours? You would always be doing your will and always remaining within yourself. Is that not so?
Each week we will be presenting a portion of the following Sunday’s readings, and linking it to relevant parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and messages from the Testimony of Catalina. Pay special attention to the italicized underlined sections. This Sunday it is asked, What kind of soil will you be for the word of God? We hope this is inspiring and educational. Any comments you have are certainly welcomed.Tim Francis prepared this educational program to help you increase your faith and love for the Holy Trinity and our Blessed Mother. I have known Tim for many years and recommend his work highly. He is a strong advocate for the “The Real Body and Blood Of Jesus” and the numerous miracles that occur on a daily basis. Both of us are greatly inspired by the amazing writings of Catalina Rivas. Catalina is one of the few individuals in history who personally experienced the “Stigmata Of Jesus Christ.”
