Sunday June 16, 2016: Twelth Sunday In Ordinary Time. “But who do you say that I am?”

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”

Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.

He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Then he said to all, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

1889 Without the help of grace, men would not know how “to discern the often narrow path between the cowardice which gives in to evil, and the violence which under the illusion of fighting evil only makes it worse.”  This is the path of charity, that is, of the love of God and of neighbor.  Charity is the greatest social commandment.  It respects others and their rights.  It requires the practice of justice, and it alone makes us capable of it.  Charity inspires a life of self-giving: “Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it.”

From “The Great Crusade of Mercy” Testimony of Catalina Rivas (CM-143)

5) All the Saints carried their crosses bravely and lovingly.  None of them evaded their crosses, just as I did not evade Mine, capable as I was at that moment of putting an end to the evil of the enemy of souls.

6) If I carried My Cross joyfully to please My Father, why do human beings want to be more than their Master?  No power is given to any human being to try to surpass the One who leads them… I have said that those who wish to be My disciples should take up their crosses every day and follow Me.

7) Oh, children! No cross that is carried with love will be deserving of scorn and none will go unrewarded, since by imitating your Lord, you identify with the God-Man.

Each week we will be presenting a portion of the following Sunday’s readings, and linking it to relevant parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and messages from the Testimony of Catalina.  Pay special attention to the italicized underlined sections. We hope this is inspiring and educational. Any comments you have are certainly welcomed.

I have known Tim for many years and recommend his work highly. He is a strong advocate for the “The Real Body and Blood Of Jesus” and the numerous miracles that occur on a daily basis. Both of us are greatly inspired by the amazing writings of Catalina Rivas. Catalina is one of the few individuals in history who personally experienced the “Stigmata Of Jesus Christ.”

Through Catalina’s writings, Jesus and our Blessed Mother provide an insightful commentary about the Holy Scriptures, the Magisterium and oral tradition. You can learn more about Catalina Rivas at her website. Download all her books for FREE: Catalina Rivas Website LoveAndMercy.org/english-books/
