This is a defense of our Catholic faith that is taking place on our Catholic Brothers For Christ Youtube account where we posted the videos from the 2015 North Texas Catholic Men’s Conference. Father Larry Richards’ “Be A Man” video seems to be causing quite a bit of controversy.
25EllisDee25 response to +Catholic Brothers For Christ: you can only attest to the delusions you experienced. for demonic oppression to be a truth, first you must prove that demons exist, which nobody has ever done. the same is true of heaven/hell/satan/god/ghosts/leprechauns/goblins /bigfoot/telepathy/telekinesis/psychics/speaking to the dead/palm reading/shape shifting lizard aliens from outer space covertly replacing politicians/etc. I too, have met god, and the holy spirit. I can understand how you were fooled. But I can attest to my experience, which from all the people I have talked to, is a rare experience, but many others have had a similar experience. It was awesome and astonishing and wonderful, but it was not the work of the creator of the universe. unless the creator of the universe was me, but i think i would recall doing that. IF there is anything remotely like the god that many believe, it is very likely nothing more than some sort of collective (energy?) that results from all the minds on planet earth, making god in the image of man, not vice versa. this would mean god had no will or individuality of his own, but is more like the smell of the rain than an omnipotent person who is infallible, jealous, and angry. you still have avoided that question i put to you about what you would do if you were shown irrefutable proof that your concept of god was totally wrong. would you remain in denial, or adapt your beliefs and move on? would you even want to know, or would you be unwilling to see such proof, if it was offered? just give a straight answer to that please. i am not trying to pull anything funny, or even implying that i can do this, i just want to get a feel for how strongly you feel attached to your ideas, and how open or closed minded you are. there is no right or wrong answer, and i will not refuse to talk to you if you answer one way or another, i just want an honest answer like i would give you a straight and honest answer to any question you put to me.
+Catholic Brothers For Christ response to +25EllisDee25: You might want to take a look at the records of exorcisms by the Catholic Church where priests, doctors and prayer warriors worked to cast out satan and his demons. There is scientific documentation about events science cannot explain.
A good reference book is: Hostage to the Devil: The Possession and Exorcism of Five Contemporary Americans by Malachi Martin I can provide at least 10 other books I have read that offer evidence that baffles science.
The answer to your question is that after studying religion and atheism for over 30 years I have seen no objective proof…only subjective. If you have objective proof, I would love to see it and yes, if it was true, how could I deny it?
As an atheist, it is impossible to accept anything beyond the experience of your 5 senses. The energy in the universe is a good example.
Science still has failed to explain the basic concept of where energy ends and matter begins. I invested twenty years in energetic medicine, working with $40,000 instruments based on acupuncture that transformed patients health by feeding electrical energy in to the cells. Energy medicine is widely accepted in Asian and European cultures.
However, science has yet to explain why. Just as scientists have never created life from inanimate materials, nor will they. The creation of life is God’s purview.
Quantum physics is so convoluted, based on human intellect, logic and reasoning, that few understand it or can agree.
When your entire explanation of the universe is based on your subjective experience and thought process, many would disagree with your conclusions. In fact, many do disagree.
Millions who have studied the Bible, history, oral tradition and the Magesterium have a foundation of wisdom compiled over human history. What do atheists have other that their own subjective views?
With your testament of meeting God and the Holy Spirit, it is you own subjective experience and anecdotal experiences of others who share your perspective. What credibility does that have?
Many people have had an experience with God and the Holy Spirit and rejected the offer of love and forgiveness. You don’t have to be an atheist to do that. Most fallen away Christians are in the same boat. I can relate because I went through the same thing. If God can save me, the worst of sinners have hope.
