This is a defense of our Catholic faith that is taking place on our Catholic Brothers For Christ Youtube account where we posted the videos from the 2015 North Texas Catholic Men’s Conference. Father Larry Richards’ “Be A Man” video seems to be causing quite a bit of controversy.
25EllisDee25 response to +Catholic Brothers For Christ: “Yes, I became an atheist because I was angry at God. ” this is impossible. if you are angry at god, it follows that you believe in him. if you believe in him, you are not an atheist. so what were you? you were not an atheist. “How dare a supreme being try to tell me not to do something that felt so good.” What? A supreme being can do whatever the hell it wants, and how dare you say how dare he? if you really believe, how dare you! ” How could a loving God even consider chastising me for just following the lusts of a “normal man.” the above question makes the most sense so far.
masturbation is purging your old stale semen, why should it be sinful? its not in the 10 commandments. thou shalt not choke thy chicken. this commandment does not exist. did you know that letting old stale semen decompose in your prostate greatly increases your risk of prostate cancer? cleanliness is next to godliness they say. perhaps if the scripture encouraged masturbation, the clergy would not be shoving their dicks up little boy’s asses? perhaps your brilliant friend was completely correct?
Catholic Brothers For Christ response to 25EllisDee25: Like you, before I denied the existence of God, I believed He was the Supreme Being, thanks to my early Catholic elementary school education. I made the only rational decision I could make based on human logic.
If I wanted to live my life without any constraints, I had to deny the existence of God and therefore choose to not believe in Him. I decided to become god and create my own universe.
Choosing atheism as a mental construct allowed me to feel simpatico with those who made a similar choice. It was the only rational decision, the same as all atheists, so we could do whatever we wanted to do with without guilt.
As far as you perspective on masturbation, I was the of the same opinion. Fortunately, when God convicted me of the particular form of sin, He God gave me the strength to become and remain celibate.
Masturbation is a never ending temptation that plagues all men, normal or not. Lust of the eye is a weakness all men suffer until the day they die.
Masturbation is like any other temptation. If we truly repent of the sin, ask God for the strength to resist and remain Holy, He honors His promise that He will never allow us to be tempted beyond the level we can handle. Praying, and going to Mass to receive the Holy Eucharist and Eucharistic Adoration provide the spiritual strength to triumph over all sins.
Without a relationship with Jesus and availing ourselves of the means of grace, I don’t know anyone who has overcome this selfish, self-destructive addiction.
