This is a defense of our Catholic faith that is taking place on our Catholic Brothers For Christ Youtube account where we posted the videos from the 2015 North Texas Catholic Men’s Conference. Father Larry Richards’ “Be A Man” video seems to be causing quite a bit of controversy.
25EllisDee25 response to +Catholic Brothers For Christ: yeah, you really nailed it with the greed bit. How did the roman catholic church come to be wealthier than most nations? by stealing from the poor. i was once an altar boy, and our church had a vault, with a great big 26 ton door(give or take a few dozen) just like you see in a bank to guard its treasures, which according to the priest who i asked, was worth millions(and that was 40 years ago). and this was just your average sized parish church in the midwest. it was like king tut’s burial chamber there was so much gold, most of which never saw the light of day, it was considered too valuable to put on display or use during the service, so it just gathered dust. that one church alone could have fed the entire world’s starving children for months.
+Catholic Brothers For Christ response to +25EllisDee25: That is true for most religions, not just the Catholic Church. How many leaders in the different religions enjoy lives of luxury and privilege, while they steal from the poor and weak minded?
However, just because certain individuals are sinful, their actions do not negate the true message of salvation. The greatest sinners in most cases are political and religious leaders world-wide. The politicians embrace the religions of atheism, secularism, relativism, socialism and communism.
The scum always seem to rise to the top in any political or religious bureaucracy. Religions and governments are filled with corrupt and sinful individuals who lie, cheat and steal to fulfill their lust for power, material possessions, sex, etc. They love and embrace the seven deadly sins: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony.
Most of us are advocates of at least one or more of these sins. The only thing that restrains normal men and women from living selfish lives is an experience with the Holy Spirit or following the conscience that God placed in every soul. Original Sin is the common state of mankind. Are the religious leaders in the Catholic Church more corrupt than those in the other religions? What do you think?
