This my respectful response in a discussion on Facebook to a very special, open-minded woman who advocates the benefits of contraception and abortion.
We agree on many things. You are obviously a kind and caring person.
I watch CNN, FOX, OAN, MSNBC, BBC and other news networks. All have their own bias on certain topics.
So far OAN gives news without commentary. They let you know specifically which are the opinion driven programs. Of course, their commentators are conservative but they tell you up front.
I love truth in advertising. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic elementary and high schools. When I went to UCSD LA Jolla in San Diego, the Flower Power Free Love Movement began.
The desire for sex caused me to reject my faith in the pursuit of total freedom to do whatever I wanted. Of course drugs and Rock and Roll contributed to my rebellion against the morals and ethics of my parents and faith.
Birth control pills opened Pandora’s Box. The sex was great but it was not free from unexpected consequences. Contraception was great for men who wanted to have as much sex as possible without commitments or complications. Sadly, many of the women screwed up their hormones forever. They were left holding the bag when birth control failed. It was and still is very unfair to women.
Now, with abortion as a backup plan when contraception fails, the women are harmed to a greater degree. Many women have died or been mutilated to such a degree they will never be able to get pregnant or have their own baby.
When the natural changes start to occur in the breast cells to provide mother’s milk for their baby, and abortion halts this process, the breast cells have a much higher incidence of becoming cancerous later in life.
The emotional and spiritual consequences are devastating. I have yet to meet one woman who had an abortion that did not regret her choice. Women and couples I know personally are devastated for the rest of their lives even after they repent and receive forgiveness from God.
You may know women who have had a different experience. I pray some day they will realize the eternal consequences of what they did and ask God for forgiveness before they die. He is gracious, merciful, loving, kind and always forgiving.
My greatest difficulty with abortion is the killing of an innocent child. I have studied different faiths for over 50 years. They all profess the sanctity of human life.
The only ones that condone, embrace and promote abortion is liberalism, socialism, communism, relativism, social progressivism, atheism and Satanism. Perhaps I am mistaken on the different religions. The common denominator is the belief that individuals are god. They can do whatever they want because without God’s absolute laws there is no right or wrong, good or bad…only what is expedient.
I believe there are eternal consequences for our thoughts and actions and non-action, potential sins of commission and omission. That is why I invest two hours a day praying 6 rosaries and going to Mass to receive the real Body and Blood of Jesus. I also attend Eucharistic Adoration as often as possible.I pray that every soul will repent of their sins and receive salvation that guarantees a joyful eternity with the Trinity, our Blessed Mother and all the Angels and Saints.
